The ‘Omnibus Edition’ of The Fall’s ‘This Nation’s Saving Grace’ that first was announced in the summer of 2009 finally will arrive in late January, packed with 31 singles, alternative edits, John Peel sessions and previously unreleased ‘working mixes.’
This week’s new releases include a brand-new best-of from the Pet Shop Boys, a 2CD reissue of The Jam’s ‘Sound Affects,’ a live DVD from INXS, new studio albums from Brian Eno and Elvis Costello, and reissues from The Fall, UB40 and The Motels.
Beggars Archive this morning revealed a preliminary tracklist for its upcoming 4CD Omnibus Edition of The Fall’s 1984 album ‘The Wonderful and Frightening World of the Fall,’ which is due for release later this year alongside an expanded edition of ‘This Nation’s Saving Grace.’
The irascible Mark E. Smith — who turns 53 today — next month will release his 28th studio album under the banner of The Fall, the ragged, love-’em-or-hate-’em postpunk act that has churned through dozens of members since debuting in 1976.
The canonization of the Pixies’ beloved Doolittle continues with Beggars Archives’ just-announced plans to release an “Omnibus Edition” of the 1989 album, with a new surround mix, the record’s demos and possibly a Blu-ray included in the expanded box set.
