Breeders touring North America this August between Kim Deal’s Pixies treks

The Breeders, 'Fate to Fatal' EP

Kim Deal will squeeze in a three-week Breeders tour of North America this summer between treks with the recently reactivated Pixies

The Breeders — currently featuring Deal, twin sister Kelley Deal, Jose Medeles, Mando Lopez and Cheryl Lindsey — have booked 16 dates, beginning Aug. 5 in Newport, Ky., and ending Aug. 23 in Columbus, Ohio (see full dates below).

The band is supporting its Fate to Fatal EP, which was released in April on limited-edition vinyl and as a digital download and includes three original tunes and a cover of Bob Marley’s “Chances Are.” The group’s publicist reports: “Fans can expect to hear some of the songs from Fate to Fatal as well as other songs that the band hasn’t played in years.”

Deal recently finished a spate of European festival shows and private concerts with the Pixies, and will resume bass duties with the indie-rock legends in October when the band plays a series of European and American shows marking the 20th anniversary of 1989’s Doolittle.

Pixies frontman Black Francis is taking advantage of the downtime, too, and currently is touring the U.S. and Canada as both a solo-acoustic act and as part of Grand Duchy, the guitar-and-synth duo he started with wife Violet Clark.
