New releases: Public Image Ltd. EP, plus Peter Gabriel, Joe Jackson, World Party

Record Rack: A round-up of the week’s new albums, expanded reissues and/or box sets, appearing each Monday on Slicing Up Eyeballs.

 If you didn’t pick up John Lydon and Co.’s first new music in 20 years, in the form of this new four-song EP, as a vinyl-only release on Record Store Day this past weekend, the release goes on sale digitally this week as well. The set includes four tracks off the upcoming This Is PiL (stream “One Drop” and “Lollipop Orchestra”).

ARTIST : Peter Gabriel 
 Live Blood
 Peter Gabriel this week releases a 2CD, 22-track concert album that was recorded March 23, 2011, at London’s Hammersmith Apollo — the same performance, backed by a full orchestra, that yielded last year’s “New Blood: Live in London” DVD and Blu-ray (see full tracklist and stream “Solsbury Hill” here).

ARTIST : Joe Jackson
 “Live at Rockpalast”
BACKSTORY: The New Wave star this week releases a 2DVD version of his recent live album compiling three different performances recorded in 1980 and 1983 for the West German TV show, including tracks such as “Steppin’ Out,” “Is She Really Going Out With Him?,” “Beat Crazy,” “Sunday Papers,” “Kinda Kute” and much more.


ARTIST : World Party 
 Karl Wallinger and Co. this week release, in the U.K. (it came out in the U.S. last month), a new, 5CD box set featuring  70 never-before-heard tracks, including an “unheard history of rare studio gems, live sessions, concert recordings, radio interviews, covers, demos and B-sides” (see full tracklist here).
