RELEASE: The Hurting
BACKSTORY: Tears For Fears’ debut this week receives a multi-format reissue, including a four-disc box set with remixes, B-sides and more. The box is out in the U.K.; in the U.S., the reissue comes as a 2CD and digital set (full tracklist).



BACKSTORY: The Smiths singer this week releases a new concert film on DVD and Blu-ray that was filmed earlier this year at Hollywood High School, not too long before he scrapped the remainder of his cancellation-prone U.S. tour.

RELEASE: Fisherman’s Box
BACKSTORY: Mike Scott this week releases, in the U.K., a 7CD/1LP box set featuring complete Fisherman’s Blues sessions from 1986 to 1988; a slightly slimmed-down 6CD set has been delayed until November.

RELEASE: Life’s a Riot wit Spy vs. Spy
BACKSTORY: The singer-songwriter this week releases a 30th anniversary reissue of his debut that features a remastered version of the album plus a  live solo version recorded this summer. CD in the U.K., digital in U.S. (full tracklist).


Pixies Pixies

BACKSTORY: The audiophile pros at Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab this week release a hybrid SACD featuring a remastered edition of the Pixies’ fourth and, so far, final album.

BACKSTORY: The band’s 1CD/2DVD set chronicling its 25th anniversary reunion shows in London and Germany in 2011 — out last year in the U.K. — gets a belated U.S. release this week.
