The Wedding Present to reissue first decade’s output in hugely expanded 3CD/1DVD sets

The Wedding Present circa 1994

More than a year after they were first announced, an impressive set of The Wedding Present reissues will arrive this fall, a campaign that sees the first decade of David Gedge and Co.’s catalog expanded into 3CD/1DVD sets brimming with extras that include non-album singles, B-sides, BBC sessions, live concerts, music videos and much more.

Due out Oct. 20 in the U.K. on Demon Music Group’s Edsel imprint, the reissues include the band’s first five albums — 1987’s George Best, 1989’s Bizarro, 1991’s Seamonsters, 1994’s Watusi and 1996’s Saturnalia — plus compilations Tommy (1988) and The Hit Parade (1992-1993) and the Mini EP (1996).

All of the titles — including the six-song Mini EP — have been expanded with a second disc of singles and radio session material, a third disc featuring an installment of the band’s live tape series and a DVD with music videos, TV appearances and newly filmed interviews with Gedge about that album.

Additionally, George Best, Tommy, Mini and Saturnalia will be reissued on “high quality vinyl.”

The reissues also are being packaged in three different, limited-edition deluxe packages that will also include specially pressed 7-inches with new acoustic versions of some of the songs found on the reissued albums. It does not appear, however, that those packages can be ordered from the U.S.

Below, see full tracklists for the eight Wedding Present reissues.

  1. Totally underrated band IMO. Especially love their bizarro record. I’m off to listen to “brass neck” right now!

  2. hope these get a us release!

  3. i still have a merch brochure from the Saturnalia tour. damn, i wish that stuff was still available.

  4. They look pretty and all but given 80% of this stuff has been reissued before.
Why include some the the live tapes which were just released a couple of years ago , and they had extra stuff.
Seems like we are expected to buy these for a couple of demos and a radio session.

  5. Are the track listings right? My copy of Seamonsters has Dan Dare and Fleshworld on it.
