Belgian EBM legends Front 242 canceled a pair of planned concerts in their native country this weekend after Jean-Luc De Meyer was hospitalized, announcing in a short Facebook post that the frontman’s “health is worrying.”

The group did not elaborate on what sort of health issue De Meyer, who is in his mid-60s, was suffering from. The De Kreun concert hall in the Belgian city of Kortrijk confirmed on its website the Friday and Saturday night concerts were canceled “due to illness.”

Front 242’s announcement on Facebook:

Dear All,

It is with great regret and sadness that Front 242 must cancel the 2 concerts of 01 and 02 April 2022 in Kortrijk De Kreun (Belgium).

Our singer Jean-Luc De Meyer was hospitalized last night and his health is worrying.

We are aware that all our fans were looking forward to this concert and we are all disappointed.

Let’s all keep our hearts with Jean-Luc.

The group has extensive touring plans for the spring and summer, including an eight-date North American run this month, followed by concerts in Europe through July. The group also is co-headlining the 10th annual Cold Waves festival in Chicago with Nitzer Ebb this September.
