I have listened to your show for the past 7 years, never have I missed a Sunday. My birthday is coming up on December 5, so I thought I would get my request in plenty of time (if possible). But I would love to hear Sisters of Mercys ” 1959″, the year I was born. I look forward to every Sunday night. Your show is absolutely fantastic!!!

  2. Nice show tonight Matt! I look forward to Sunday nights!

  3. Hi, Matt! Thank you so much for playing my request and reading my comment! That was truly special to hear. You’re the best! :D
Brilliant show, as always; loved the selections from The Comsat Angels, Kate Bush, and The Mission.
Thanks again, and hope you have a great week! <3

  4. CARMEN ILARDI

I would love to hear The Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight.
Thank you for a good show last night.

  5. My birthday is on Monday 12/04. I was wondering if you can dig up “You Just Haven’t Earned It Yet, Baby” by the Smiths/Morrissey for the December 3 show. Thanx!

  6. How about green fuz by the cramps? Thanks!

  7. A big smile came upon my face when I heard Billy Zoom’s guitar/X’s “Under the Big Black Sun”! I cranked up the volume and was reminded of how much I love that band. And it has me thinking – maybe you could have a LA block sometime in the future – X, TSOL, Gun Club, Jane’s Addiction, etc…So many great bands from la la land!
As always, thanks for the awesome dose of dark wave!

    • Even though the Bay has been home since age 16, LA is where I grew up. Love your idea of an LA block Nicole. I know they’re really an OC band but I’d throw Minutemen in the hopper as well. Also Black Flag, Germs, Social Distortion, and Abecedarians.

      • Nathan, those are all great bands! The list goes on and on…Adolescents, Weirdos, Circle Jerks… For some reason, I was always drawn to those LA/southern California bands. I had pen pals from LA who sent the best mix tapes (yes, I’m old) and turned me onto incredible music.

  8. Oh that New Gold Dream. That cassette was in heavy rotation with New Order’s Low Life and Ultravox Greatest Hits, the summer of ’85.
    Thank you Matt

  9. Gene Loves Jezebel – Influenza

  10. Enjoyed the back to back LA tracks in the first hour!

    Here are some requests –

    The Names – Tokyo Twilight
    Lush – Outdoor Miner

    Thanks!

  11. Really enjoyed this set, first hour killed it but hours 2 and 3 were no slouch. Thanks for the Jazz Butcher track, I love that one. Also the ACR, I remember requesting that one awhile back. Loved that you read Lindsey’s comments about Soul Mining, that was super cool of you.

Request for a future show, in honor of Mancunian Mark Smith: “Eat Y’self Fitter” by The Fall

Have a lovely Thanksgiving Matt and fellow darkwavers, cheers!

  12. Hot damn hours one and two!! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Matt! You literally stuff us (see what I did there?!) full of awesome darkness each week! Some possible suggestions for next time:

OMD – Extended Souvenir (2003 digital remaster)
    Concrete Blonde – Tomorrow, Wendy
The Stranglers – Always The Sun

    Thank again as always! 。◕‿◕。

  13. I saw Bauhaus warm up for NIN in DC a while back. Trent and Peter recorded Bela for a radio station. The session was awesome. Does it exist for public airing? It would be a great Darkwave song…

  14. Just saw about the passing of Mars Williams. We look forward to any possible tribute track you may choose, as he played sax with a lot of good bands. His contribution to “Cannibal Song” is haunting.

  15. Veronica Riordan

Maybe Sister Europe to honor the late Mars Williams?

  16. Thank you for playing my Swallow request! Such a nice surprise. Hours 1 and 3 were superb. So many amazing tracks this week, but it was very special to hear both of my favorites from Kate Bush and The Smiths. Thanks for another great show, Matt!

  17. Soulful episode.

    This week’s Darkness Award:
The The, “I’ve Been Waitin’ For Tomorrow (All Of My Life)”

  18. Hey Matt!

Happy Thanksgiving! I for one am so very grateful for the 3 hours per week of dark-wave bliss that you so generously arrange on Sunday evenings! Something to look forward to every week, 50+ times per year! Truly awesome!!

This week started with playing lots of Frank Black’s solo stuff, but by week’s end had “Trompe Le Monde” on an auto-loop. It’s just that kind of album – it was back then – and surely still is. Let’s segue into a request that’s sure to send any Pixies fan into that much sought after Heaven (the one that all good Monkeys go to!) ;-)

Motorway to Roswell // The Pixies

    Cheers!

  19. Can you play Mr Fiasco by Johnson Engineering Co? Or really anything by Johnson Engineering Co.

    Thx!

  20. I love that Swallow album so much
