  1. You have been playing many versions/covers of The Light Pours Out of Me, and all I can say is, yes please.I’ll be seeing TKK yet again this coming week, so could we please hear:

My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult- Mystery Babylon

Let’s get weird. You played a real Funky set tonight. Listened to bands tonight that I haven’t in years. As always, thank you for what you do.

  2. KMFDM – Friede
    Please and thanks Matt

  3. “Love Like Blood” – Killing Joke

  4. Excellent show tonight, Matt!

  5. Great Show. Flock of Seagulls “Nightmare”.

  6. I haven’t been able to tune in live for several weeks since I’m student teaching this semester, which requires me to be up early on Monday mornings. Luckily, next week is Spring Break so I should be able to tune in live for once. As such, you know me, I’d love to hear something from Love And Rockets. Thanks and have a great week!

    • Nicole, I hope student teaching is going well! I’m a high school librarian and it makes me smile knowing a Dark Waver is entering the teaching world.

    • Good luck with the student teaching Nicole! I was in the same boat many moons ago and it is a stressful time. But I’ve been teaching High School English for 23 years now and it is still super fun. I played your fave band’s cover of ‘Ball of Confusion’ for my classes a few weeks back when we were talking about the history of Motown for Black History Month, they dug it. Enjoy Spring break!

  7. I’m streaming right now and early highlights include Big Black, Ministry, Peter Murphy, and Laurie Anderson. I haven’t reached this point quite yet but I see my request for The Smiths in the playlist – thank you, I look forward to hearing it.
A request for an upcoming show:
The Jesus and Mary Chain “Happy When It Rains”
Thank you for consistently giving us a great show week after week – you’re the best!

  8. CARMEN ILARDI

Tonight was one of the best shows ever. I knew almost every song.

  9. Great installment this week Matt! Thank you for playing my Cranes request…very mellow – like a marshmallow Peeps! Anyway…some possible suggestions for next time:

    OMD – Electricity (2019 remastered)
    The Cure – Charlotte Sometimes
Depeche Mode – Fly on the Windscreen (Final)

    Thanks again as always!! 。◕‿◕。

  10. Laurie Anderson – From the Air

  11. Comsat Angels – What Else

  12. Loved this set. And let me quote Evan yet again: ‘We can never get enough Big Black.’ Jesus Lizard was fun to hear at the top of hour 3, hadn’t heard them in ages. And that live version of ‘Uncertain Smile’ was so good. Mr. Johnson needs to bring the band stateside. I haven’t seen The The since they opened for New Order back in 93. Thanks for playing the Stockholm Monsters cut.

Not sure if this request is only Darkwave adjacent and therefore not a good fit but going to throw it out there anyway: ‘Golden Ball’ by Stereolab.

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

    • Yes! Still kicking myself for missing the 2018 The The “re-union” concert in SF – especially after reading the set-list. Last show I went to was the “Naked Self” tour – circa early 2000s @ Slims! Its been waaay too long — So good live!!!

      • Still kicking myself for missing that show as well. I believe that was at The Masonic? Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a US tour!

  13. Hey Matt

Great selections! I actually just listened to Storm the Studio in its entirety the other day (SF-LA drive) – it is soooo good! Jack D. is the best!

In terms of requests…Here’s another fave track from him:

Edge of No Control // MBM (there are many – but my fave version is Part 1, the one w. Mark P. on the intro!)

    Cheers

  14. Good DW!

    Here are some requests –

The Psychedelic Furs – Sister Europe
Killing Joke – We Have Joy

    Thanks!

  15. Great set! Thanks for the Jesus Lizard! You continue to grow my appreciation for Laibach (among many other great bands).

I’m gettin psyched for KMFDM later this month – may I request something early from them, or perhaps something off the Excessive Force collab btwn Sascha and Buzz McCoy?

    Thanks as always!

    • Re: KMFDM – Hell yes!! You going to the Fillmore? – the SF show? I’ll be there if so! Wearing my black Assemblage 23 hoodie! Skinny Puppy seems like so long ago (too damn long!!) ;-)

      Cheers

      • ahhhh yah i’ll be at the Fillmore (in my Naïve shirt – which I think I got the first/last time I saw them, in like 1990 or ’91 at a club called Medusa’s in Chicago, iirc). If I see ya i’ll give the super-double-secret Sirius XM Darkwave Wave!

        Should be a great show!

  16. Michael Batlle (bah-yay)

I look forward to this show every Sunday. I’d love to hear Cult Hero – I Dig You, if possible. Thanks!

  17. Twilight Ritual – Message (1986)
My Bloody Valentine – Slow (1988)

  18. Nailed it again Matt. Loved Better Ways. Don’t forget the Atmosphere cover by Paul Haig, wouldn’t be surprised if Bernard Sumner was behind it, he produced for Paul.

    Great show once again Matt!!

  19. Hey Matt,

In honor of Ministry’s new album, I’d like to request one of the following for an upcoming show:
Breathe (from In Case you didn’t feel like showing up – that dual drumming is always killer)
    Step
    Warp City
    Thanks & Cheers!

    • Sadly, they didn’t release the amazing double-drum live version of Breathe on the In Case You Didn’t Feel Like Showing Up cd (though it was on the VHS tape). Instead, it appeared separately on the Just Say Da compilation cd from Sire Records. And later it was also included on the Ministry Live Necronomicon cd from Cleopatra.

  20. Thanks for playing my FLA request two shows ago! Could you play Go Away by Strawberry Switchblade?

  21. Matt, I’ve been listening since your first broadcast and I can’t thank you enough for being there with all the great music to fill the final hours of our weekends.
It’s great to catch an old favorite, but also find a new interest as well from your shows.

If I could suggest a song or more whenever you can fit them in….Thank you for all the memories!!!

The Fall – Hit the North pt 1
    Sigue Sigue Sputnik – F1-11
Love and Rockets – Yin and Yang (The Flowerpot Man)
    Front 242 – Welcome to Paradicce v1.0
Blue Peter – Don’t Walk Past or Radio Silence
Divine – Native Love (Step by Step)
    * but the better version, not the one where they talk all through it….

  22. Hour 2 was awesome Matt! NIN.- Gave up (Fixed)

  23. At risk of a thread hijack, there is some sad news to report.

Karl Wallinger has died. I knew that he had been having health problems in recent years, but this still hits hard.

As Mike Scott said: “Travel on well my old friend. You are one of the finest musicians I’ve ever known.”

    https://www.msn.com/en-xl/news/other/whole-of-the-moon-artist-karl-wallinger-dies-at-66/ar-BB1jJYHa

    • Agreed. Karl will be missed greatly. What a musician. Goodbye Jumbo is a great album.

      • Goodbye Jumbo is my favorite WP album, and a long time all time favorite.

Such sad news. Especially so soon after losing Shane MacGowan.

  24. Belated thanks for playing my request for New Order’s “Procession” a few weeks back. “Sunrise” is another New Order song that doesn’t get nearly as much attention as I think it deserves, so I appreciated that you played it this week.

  25. B.T. Washington

    Swim the Witch “Enchanter”

  26. Request:

Faith No More – Mark Bowen

It’s from their first LP and hits that darker new wave sweet spot

  27. I was a week behind on shows (thank god for the SiriusXM app), thank you for playing my request, Matt!

  28. Loved “The Shadow of Love!” I still have the Eloise 12-inch that I bought in high school. It was the first Damned I’d ever heard, and it was so gorgeously camp! How about that one? Or, perhaps more appropriate for Dark Wave, “Feel the Pain.” That one I didn’t discover until much later…

  29. Hi Matt some great music tonight.

Some favorites were Depeche Mode, Skinny Puppy, Killing Joke, New Order and Echo & the Bunnymen.

Adding more to my playlist for the week.

  30. Hey Matt it would be nice to hear
Section 25- looking from a hilltop

  31. I love knowing “my tribe” exists. I had no one to grieve Karl Wallinger with.I just recommended this show to a freshman undergrad who’s the only Goth at a private univ. The playlist never disappoints. I’d love to hear This Mortal Coil’s “The Jeweler.” (And if you need a podcast recommendation, S-town, about the song’s titular “hero”!).
