The Cult recently enlisted witch house act Salem to remix the track “Elemental Light” off the band’s current album Choice of Weapon, and has just released a Kostas Seremetis-directed video for the new version — which, as you can hear from the beat-driven clip posted above, is pretty much and entirely different song than the original.

Three days after releasing ‘Choice of Weapon’ — their first album in five years — next month, The Cult will embark on a 20-date North American tour, with punk band Against Me! and hard rockers The Icarus Line supporting most dates of what frontman Ian Astbury is promising will be ‘a very intense, high-energy tour.’

With their first new album in five years, ‘Choice of Weapon,’ coming out in May, The Cult this morning announced a five-date arena tour of the U.K. this September that’ll see the rockers enlisting a pair of freshly reunited contemporaries — The Mission and Killing Joke — to fill out the bill.
The Cult roars back into action this May with a brand-new, 10-track album called ‘Choice of Weapon,’ co-produced by ‘Sonic Temple’ veteran Bob Rock and preceded by the rocker ‘Lucifer’ — which is available here as a free MP3 download. It’s the group’s ninth album overall and first in five years.
