Record Rack: A round-up of the week’s new albums, expanded reissues and/or box sets, appearing each Monday on Slicing Up Eyeballs. All releases due out this Friday unless noted. This week’s releases include titles from Bauhaus, This Mortal Coil, Skinny Puppy, David Bowie and more.
The Beggars Arkive imprint will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Bauhaus this fall with limited-edition, colored-vinyl reissues of the pioneering goth-rock band’s first four studio albums, as well as its 1982 live set Press Eject and Give Me the Tape and the Crackle best-of. Full details and images right here.
This week’s new releases include the long-awaited new album from My Bloody Valentine, the new Depeche Mode single, a 10-disc Roxy Music box set, vinyl reissues of Bauhaus’ first two albums, a new studio effort from Chris Stamey of The dB’s, a collection of Bjork remixes and Julian Cope’s reissue of ‘St. Julian.’
New York rockers Bones Howell claim to draw on punk and goth influences, and they certainly aren’t afraid to show off that inspiration on a new 7-inch that arrives this week and features both a cover of Bauhaus’ ‘Hair of the Dog’ and a remix of their own song ‘Nephritis’ by none other than Daniel Ash, Bauhaus’ guitarist.
