Celebrity gossip TV show ‘Extra’ this week posted a performance/interview segment with synthpop innovator Gary Numan, in which he plays ‘Cars’ and discusses last year’s tour in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of his debut album, ‘The Pleasure Principle.’
With his 30th anniversary ‘Pleasure Principle’ U.S. tour now underway, synthpop figurehead Gary Numan this week released separate CD and DVD documents of his Dec. 3, 2009, London performance of that landmark 1980 solo debut and other assorted selections from his ample back catalog.
This week’s new releases include the U.S. version of The Specials’ ’30th Anniversary Tour’ live DVD; Gary Numan and Tubeway Army’s 4LP ’78/79 Box Set’; and Dean & Britta’s ’13 Most Beautiful… Songs For Andy Warhol’s Screen Tests,’ featuring ex-Galaxie 500 frontman Dean Wareham.
Reissue imprint Vinyl 180 is prepping an ultra-limited four-record box set that collects remastered editions of the first three albums by Gary Numan and Tubeway Army — as well as an LP of demos and rarities called ‘The Plan’ — on high-quality, 180-gram vinyl.
Electro-pop icon Gary Numan today announced he’ll celebrate the 30th anniversary of his solo debut ‘The Pleasure Principle’ this fall with a 16-date North American tour that will include nightly performances of the 1979 album in its entirety as well as selections from his in-the-works ‘Splinter’ record.
