  1. Loved the Daniel Ash track. Thank you immensely for playing GVDT, it was an honor to share that same block as your first song played. Concrete Blonde was the perfect end to that first hour. Placebo was a nice surprise. And then bonus dose of Daniel Ash? Perfection. Next week could we hear:

    The Cramps – Surfin Dead

I’m glad you’re feeling better. Thank you for doing the Lord’s work.

  2. The Cure – Icing Sugar

    Thanks Matt

  3. That was a really assertive Cocteau Twins guitar sound. I have an early Manchester request. The Buzzcocks, ‘I Believe’ from, ‘A Different Kind of Tension’ . Maybe at some point a themed set of Manchester music: Buzzcocks, Stone Roses, Chameleons, A Certain Ratio, The Fall, Magazine, The Smiths, Joy Division, John Cooper Clarke, The Membranes, Theatre of Hate, New Order, Bee Gees, Herman’s Hermits.

    • Yes to a themed set of Manchester music! Wonderful idea. And for the record, I have no shame or guilt in admitting my love for the Bee Gees but I don’t expect to hear them on Dark Wave. :-)

      • Oh, I don’t know. I Started A Joke was one hell of a dark song.

        • Imaginary release:
New Order – I Started A Joke (Ecstatic Haçienda Mix)
          b/w
Durutti Column – Mrs. Brown You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter (Madchester House Mix)
          FAC 125

          • Scratch,
And Peter Saville will do the artwork for the imaginary release!

          • I would preorder the 12” in a heartbeat.

          • Nathan,
When it arrives, it will be a long trip downtown to the only record store that carries imports. It will be in a clear plastic outer sleeve, with a stunning Peter Seville designed cover, as Nicole suggested, and cost a head-spinning equivalent of four hours at minimum wage.

  4. Loved this playlist, especially Closer as well as The Smiths’ closer. Been on a Sparks’ kick lately since seeing the Edgar Wright documentary recently. How about the Siouxsie version of “This Town Ain’t Big Enough for the Both of Us”?

  5. Wow a really balanced and totally awesome playlist. I cannot wait to listen in it’s entirety! I always enjoy the shoegaze! Thank you for playing my Placebo request…Brian’s singing style really lead itself to cover that particular DM song.
Some possible suggestions for next time:

    The Normal – Warm Leatherette
Magazine – The Light Pours Out of Me
The Stranglers – Always The Sun

    Thanks again as always!!!! 。◕‿◕。

  6. “Emma” by the Sisters is pure perfection.
    Thanks!

  7. Great DW!

    Here are some requests –

This Ascension – For a Day
The Nuns – Walkin’ the Beat

    Thanks!

  8. Jeff Buckley – I Know It’s Over (Smiths cover)

  9. Fantastic program! I would love to hear Echo and the Bunnymen “ Stormy Weather”

  10. So many great tracks in last night’s set. Thanks for playing The Fall request. And that’s a great call on “Cherry Came Too.” Is it sacrilege if I say that I actually prefer Darklands to Psychocandy? And don’t get me wrong, Psychocandy is a masterpiece. I’d never heard that MBV Bond cover before, thanks for digging that one out. Loved hearing The Church, Cocteaus, Xmal Deutschland, The Sound, and my favorite Skinny Puppy cut.

I feel like it’s been a long time since we heard some Abecedarians. How about a dealer’s choice for a future show?

Have a great week Matt, glad you’re feeling better, cheers!

  11. The Teardrop Explodes – Use Me (1981)
Treat Her Right – I Think She Likes Me (1988)

  12. Great show as always, thanks Matt. How about the Sisters’ cover of “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door”? Much love

  13. How about deep by nine inch nails?

  14. Thanks for the Psyche. Great show. Can’t decide between an hour this week. The Wire to Concrete Blonde was a contender. But so was the DM/Placebo combo. Just a great show all around.

Thanks for the music. Have a good week.

  15. Great show last night, Matt! I loved the track by Drop Nineteens.

  16. I have a few more suggestions that I forgot to say!
Compulsion – Martin Gore (I absolutely love him)
Ash in Drag – The Mystery Girls

  17. Keep the great shows coming, Matt. I’d love to hear Ghost Rattle by Hula. Thanks!

  18. Awesome show!! I have two requests: Joy (remix) by Psychic TV and Far too Frail by Skinny Puppy. Thanks!

  19. I see Spiritualized’s “Lay Back in the Sun” in the playlist but I didn’t hear it during the show. Maybe it can be included in an upcoming shoegaze block.

Matt, thank you for providing an awesome show week after week. I enjoyed the personal trivia about the Ministry song and your favorite JAMC song.

    • Yeah, The Fall’s “Bombast” played in the Spiritualized slot, I was listening live. Same when you listen to the replay on the app. Sirius can be glitchy. Remember a couple months back when the Divinyls replaced what was supposed to be The Chameleons? That was so bizarre it made me chuckle. Would love to hear “Lay Back In The Sun” on a future show, any Spiritualized is always welcome and that’s a great track.

  20. Thank you for Ornaments of Gold : – )

  21. Hey Matt!

Great job! Loved those MBM and Shriekback selections!

Here are two covers to consider playing at some point:

The Pixies – Head On (JAMC)
Depeche Mode – Dirt (Iggy & Stooges)

    Cheers!

  22. The opening Peter Murphy was perfect. Best song in his catalog.

I would love a show dedicated to live tracks, I get so excited when I hear something live I haven’t in the past. If you want to live really dangerously make it a show of covered live tracks, like Bauhaus covering Ziggy Stardust live.

  23. requests:

PWEI – Lived In Splendour, Died In Chaos
The Cult – Little Face (why this was left off of Love, I will never understand)
