Rhino Records’ vinyl reissue campaign for The Sisters of Mercy continues with an expanded 4LP box set of the band’s 1992 compilation Some Girls Wander By Mistake, which finds that album spread over two records, and includes bonus 12-inch singles of “Temple of Love” and “Under the Gun.”

The Futurismo label this summer will reissue the limited-edition Devo rarities set Recombo DNA! — described as a career-spanning “sonic fusion of demos, alternate versions and outtakes” — on 4LPs and a 3-inch mini CD in an expanded edition with seven previously tracks. One day after new 12-inch and 7-inch singles of The Smiths’ “The Queen is Dead” went on sale at U.K. retailers, Morrissey is accusing the HMV chain of “an attempt to freeze sales” by limiting sales of new vinyl to one copy per person — and he’s urging fans to don silly costumes and buy as many copies “as​ you ​desire.”

As had been hinted at last week, a pair of new vinyl releases from The Smiths — 7-inch and 12-inch singles of “The Queen is Dead” — slipped into U.K. shops unannounced today to mark the 31st anniversary of the original release of the band’s classic third album, The Queen is Dead.

Boutique record label Futurismo next month will reissue The Psychedelic Furs’ classic single — both the original off 1981’s Talk Talk Talk and the re-recording used in John Hughes’ 1986 film — as a gatefold double 7-inch single pressed on pink vinyl.

Rumors have circulated since early this year that the title track to The Smiths’ 1986 album The Queen is Dead would receive a new 12-inch vinyl single release — and they appear to have been substantiated today by Morrissey’s longtime guitarist Boz Boorer through a photo he posted to Facebook.

Responding to website-crashing demand for its first new single in a decade, The The today announced it has re-pressed the 7-inch for “We Can’t Stop What’s Coming” on white vinyl in what is presumably a less-limited run, and is now selling the record on its website. The new pressing is available now.

The Cure’s two much-coveted Record Store Day releases — 2001’s Greatest Hits and a standalone release of its limited-edition companion Acoustic Hits, both as 2LP picture discs — will receive a general release later this month on standard vinyl. They’ll be released on June 30.

The The today apologized for a trouble-plagued attempt to sell extra copies of its Record Store Day 7-inch single online Saturday, and, acknowledging that “demand far exceeded everyone’s expectations,” announced that “We Can’t Stop What’s Coming” will be released digitally and on CD.

Fans of The The in the U.S. and other parts of the world that aren’t the U.K. will get their chance to buy Matt Johnson and Co.’s first new single in 10 years Saturday as extra copies of the band’s much-coveted, and very sold-out, Record Store Day 7-inch go on sale online.

Today was Record Store Day, and as one eagle-eyed Slicing Up Eyeballs reader alerted us, the Transportation Security Administration took to Instagram to relay an important message for traveling collectors: pack that fresh vinyl in your carry-on, not your checked baggage.

Record Store Day buyers who’ve already snatched up copies of the new 7-inch from The Smiths — featuring previously unreleased versions of “The Boy With the Thorn In His Side” and its original B-side “Rubber Ring” — have discovered a biting political message inscribed in the 45’s run-out groove: “Trump will kill America.”

J Spaceman and Sonic Boom are asking fans of Spacemen 3 not to buy any of that band’s Record Store Day releases in the U.K., saying they’re in a dispute with the owner of the record label putting out the three titles, and that “any monies from those sales will go directly to him and help fund his side of the dispute.”
