Front 242 — featuring Jean-Luc De Meyer, Daniel Bressanutti, Patrick Codenys and Richard 23 — will make a rare visit to the United States this September, but are only slated to perform three concerts, with performances planned in New York City, Tampa, Fla., and Chicago, as part of the Cold Waves Festival.

Finally. It’s taken more than a year, but reunited college-rock icons The Replacements finally will play a hometown gig this September, as the band has been announced to headline the soon-to-be-razed Midway Stadium in St. Paul, marking the first Twin Cities appearance by the ‘Mats since 1991.

On the heels of the success of his recent Joy Division memoir, bassist Peter Hook’s first book — 2009’s ‘The Haçienda: How Not To Run a Club” — was just published in the U.S. for the first time this week, and we’ve got copies of the brand-new paperback to award to two very lucky, U.S.-based Slicing Up Eyeballs readers.

Back in 1990, New Order scored its one and only U.K. No. 1 single with “World in Motion,” the theme to England’s 1990 World Cup campaign, a track that also featured members of the team — most notably John Barnes, who performs the rap toward the end of the song.

This is almost becoming a regular occurrence: Newly reunited college-rock legends The Replacements have been confirmed for their second festival appearance in as many days this morning at Boston Calling rolls out the lineup for its Sept. 5-7 extravaganza.

This summer, Plain Recordings will reissue Spiritualized’s 1993 live album Fucked Up Inside — originally issued as a 1,000-copy mail-order edition — on 180-gram vinyl in a reproduction of the original silver foil-embossed sleeve. The new edition of the seven-track live album will be limited to 3,000 copies,

Last November, when Wire was in Seattle to stage its Drill festival, the postpunk legends stopped by KEXP to play a 20-minute session and discuss their current album, Change Becomes Us. The station recently posted video of that set, which you can watch here.

Like OutKast, reunited college-rock legends The Replacements seem content to stick strictly to festivals, the latest of which is the just-announced two-weekend Austin City Limits Music Festival in October, where the ‘Mats will join headliners Eminem, Pearl Jam, Skrillex, Beck and, of course, OutKast on the massive bill.
