Depeche Mode continues its series of singles vinyl box-set releases with a collection of Songs of Faith and Devotion 12-inches next month, an 8LP set that will include two variations of each of the album’s four singles, with remixes and live versions for B-sides. Depeche Mode announced this weekend that it will embark on another full-catalog vinyl reissue campaign this year, this time re-releasing each of the band’s studio albums on 180-gram platters, beginning this week with Some Great Reward, Black Celebration, Music for the Masses and Songs of Faith and Devotion.
To mark the occasion, Depeche Mode has debuted a new Archives Special on its website, a 5 1/2-minute reel compiled by webmaster Daniel Barassi that features rare performance footage of “Policy of Truth” from that July 31, 1993, concert, plus clips of “120 Minutes” host Lewis Largent interviewing each member of the band.
Depeche Mode today announced that Columbia Records will release its upcoming 13th studio album in March, signalling an end to the synthpop act’s relationship with EMI Music, which picked up the group when it purchased Mute Records in 2002. Neither an exact release date nor the album’s title have been revealed.
As part of the label’s new From the Vaults web series on The Warner Sound channel on YouTube, the folks at Warner Bros. have dug up what they are billing as a previously unreleased, 26-minute Depeche Mode promotional documentary put together to promote the release of 1993’s ‘Songs of Faith and Devotion.’
Fans today got their first glimpse of Depeche Mode’s forthcoming ‘Tour of the Universe: Live in Barcelona’ DVD/Blu-ray as the band posted a 24-second clip that mostly features shots of fans waving their arms and clapping to the strains of ‘Songs of Faith and Devotion’ single ‘I Feel You.’ Plus, there are a couple shots of Dave Gahan waving his arms and clapping, too.
Alan Wilder shocked Depeche Mode fans around the world tonight, joining the band onstage for the first time since 1994 to accompany Martin Gore on piano during a performance of “Somebody” during a Teenage Cancer Trust charity concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
