The Cure has been no stranger to special Record Store Day releases — last year saw an expanded Entreat, plus reissues of the band’s first six albums in the U.K. — and this year’s no different, with an individually numbered, red-vinyl reissue of 1987’s ‘Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me’ due out next month.

The Jesus and Mary Chain’s classic 1985 debut album Psychocandy will be reissued for Record Store Day this year in a new, limited-edition “paint splatter” vinyl pressing packaged with a reproduction of an early gig poster, the band announced today on its Facebook page.

Echo & The Bunnymen’s 1980 debut album ‘Crocodiles’ will be reissued for Record Store Day in a new 180-gram audiophile pressing on red vinyl by reissue specialist Vinyl 180, the label announced in an e-mail newsletter this week. It’s not yet known whether it will be a U.K.-only release or also put out in the U.S.

In the wake of the 2011 Sony warehouse fire in London, a group of U.K. record labels has launched Beat Delete, a Kickstarter-like website designed “for the rescue of potentially lost releases” by allowing labels to gauge fan demand for reissues before actually re-pressing niche vinyl titles.

Occultation Recordings is planning deluxe vinyl reissues of The Wild Swans’ third album, 2011’s The Coldest Winter For A Hundred Years, and a 2003 compilation of ’80s radio sessions, demos and rarities called Incandescent — but first the label is taking the unusual step of asking fans what they’d like to see included.

Duran Duran today announced it will mark the 30th anniversary of the band’s first U.K. No. 1 single — “Is There Something I Should Know?,” released on March 9, 1983 — by reissuing the single as a limited-edition blue-vinyl 7-inch for Record Store Day, which this year falls on April 20.

The 2013 installment of Record Store Day is still three months away, but details are starting to emerge about what bands will be offering limited-edition vinyl releases to commemorate the day — a list that so far includes new releases from the likes of Hüsker Dü, Robyn Hitchcock, Paul Weller and Wire.

It’s been a big year for fans of Bob Mould’s post-Hüsker Dü act Sugar, with competing — and slightly different — sets of CD reissues out in the U.S. and U.K., plus live performances of Copper Blue around the world. Now, the U.K.’s Demon Music Group is compiling the band’s complete recordings in an 8-record audiophile vinyl set.

Paul Weller will close out 2012 by releasing a new six-track EP built around “Dragonfly,” a standout on this year’s ‘Sonik Kicks’ album, that will be released digitally and as a limited-edition 12-inch single with five additional songs that have been released already this year as B-sides or bonus tracks.

Dinosaur Jr will follow up its just-released studio album I Bet On Sky with a limited-edition live album recorded in 1987 and released as a vinyl-and-download combo, according to listings at online retailers. The Chocomel Daze LP will be released Nov. 19 by Merge Records on 150-gram vinyl and limited to 2,000 copies.

Peter Buck finally announced his debut solo album today, posting a note on R.E.M.’s website that reveals the album — we’re still not sure what it’s called; he doesn’t mention its title — will be released this Friday in a super-limited, 2,000-copy vinyl-only run by Portland, Ore.-based Mississippi Records.

4AD and reissue imprint Beggars Archive this week announced a new special-edition 30th anniversary reissue of ‘Junk Yard,’ the second album from Nick Cave’s pre-Bad Seeds outfit The Birthday Party. The set will feature the album on 12-inch, the ‘Release the Bats’ single on 7-inch and a CD combining both.

Dinosaur Jr next month will follow up this spring’s release of the DVD and Blu-ray ‘Bug Live at 9:30 Club: In the Hands of the Fans’ with a super-limited, purple-vinyl pressing of that performance, recorded June 25, 2011,at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.
