  1. I love it when you introduce a new song to me, and Firewalker hits the spot ( Im also a sucker for songs that samples MU-TH-ER 6000’s boot up sound) Thanks oh so much for the RevCo. It’s just good. You’ve played Sonic Youth before yes? I’m certain you have. And word round the campfire is you’re partial to covers. Could we please hear the cover of the 1971 hit:

    Sonic Youth- Superstar

A very touching tribute to Steve Albini and that Big Black choice was perfect. I saw the Sisters of Mercy my one and only time in London in 2019, and I couldn’t be more excited to see them in the South in Sept. Thank you for doing the Lord’s work. This The The track is a great finisher.

  2. “Sister I’m a Poet” by Morrissey for (the next after next) Sunday’s show

  3. Thanks for the Seance. Hard to believe Mr. Albini has left us. I’ll have to crank up Bad Penny and Kerosene all week long.

Had not heard Allez Allez before. Thanks for what looks to be a great album to chase after. Great show, especially the Chameleons, Sisters/Mercy, and Nick Cave cuts.

Thanks for the great show. Have a good one.

  4. Great show tonight! I really liked that Allen Allez track.

  5. How about introducing “Dreamtime” by the Heart Throbs? Thank you!

  6. That was a helluva set list. Great cuts from Danielle Dax, A split-second and Skeletal Family and you are right, Ultra is very underrated. A fine album that gets little attention. You also had great timing, I was thinking about how you hadn’t played Monitor in a long time and you played it tonight. Juju is still one of the best I’ve ever bought.

You always seem to hit the mark with your tribute cuts.

  7. Aura by The Church for a future show please!

  8. Another great show! Thank you for playing my JAMC request – it’s very much appreciated. So many highlights including Kraftwerk, Nick Cave, The Smiths, Bauhaus, Reznor/Peter Murphy, and the punk stuff! And of course Big Black – RIP to Steve Albini.
A future request – The Smiths “Cemetery Gates”. My school year is almost over and for some reason this song always reminds me of summer…Thank you!

  9. Seraphim6

I fervently enjoy your show, Matt. Thank you!

Please play “Temperoy” by Lawrence [and Felt] in a future episode.

  10. Spiritual Reality-Apoptygma Berzerk

  11. The Associates – White Car in Germany

  12. Dali’s Car – His Box

  13. Thoroughly enjoyed last night’s set. Lovely tribute to the mighty Steve Albini, he will be sorely missed. Thanks for the set closer with The The, badge of honor to have a request be the show closer. So many great tracks were played including my all time fave Banshees song.

I can’t seem to recall if you’ve ever played the Scottish band Josef K on the show? Been listening to a lot of their stuff the last week or two and would love to request “Sense of Guilt” for a future show if you’re able to track that one down.

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  14. Always love listening to your show, Matt! You’re the highlight of my Sunday night for sure! The only request I have for a future episode is Tones On Tail. They were INCREDIBLE at Cruel World. Would love to hear “Twist,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” or “OK This Is The Pops.” Thanks! Have a great week!

  15. I haven’t had a chance to listen yet but the selection list is top notch as per usual Matt! I was saddened to hear about S Albini ….he had a hand in so many brilliant things. Thank you for playing my NIN request – another song off that soundtrack I’d love to here sometime is

Jane’s Addiction – Sex is Violent

Some other possible suggestions for next time:

Images In Vogue – Call It Love
    Moev – Alibis
Bat For Lashes – Laura (love Dax & Bush to be sure – but love love love her stuff)

    Thanks again as always! 。◕‿◕。

  16. PJ Harvey – Ecstasy (1993)
Love And Rockets – No Words No More (1989)

  17. Still pretty gutted about Steve Albini, feels like when Bowie left us! <3 for the tribute and if Precious Thing isn't the epitome of the mirror they held up to the world, IDK what is.

    • oh and for a future episode, when I was scanning Albini’s audio engineering credits I saw that he produced Daisy Chain Reaction by the Poster Children – I love If You See Kay from that album, so that’s my request, if it fits!

      thx Matt!

  18. Elizabeth

One of the most solid sets for Dark Wave! Couldn’t agree more that DM “ULTA” is “Deeply underrated.” Playing Peter Murphy & Trent “Reptile,” bananas, I can’t even find that song anywhere. I’m such a fan of all your episodes but this one did. not. quit.

  19. Elizabeth

    *****Depeche Mode “ULTRA”

  20. Constantine

How about FAITH by the Cure – don’t recall this one on Dark Wave very often if at all since I’ve been listening over last half-dozen years

    Thanks Matt

  21. Thanks for another great DW and the Albini tribute.

With that said, I wanted to make a couple of requests from albums he recorded (not produced), or anything to your liking off of said albums –

    Pixies – River Euphrates
    Pigface – Tailor Made

    Thanks!

  22. John Schulz

Great show as always, listened to this episode like four times. Could you play Special Cases by Massive Attack. Thanks.

  23. I loved Depeche Mode Barrel of a Gun to open up Sunday’s set. Love that song!

  24. CAN YOU PLAY KINETIC FROM HILARY

  25. Great way to open up with Depeche Moe Barrel of a Gun. I agree that Ultra is deeply underrated.
Keeping with DM, I’ve been on a Wrong kick by them and the video. More Industrial request:
    Depeche Mode – Wrong
Die Warzau – Money After All
    Sister Machine Gun – Burn
Consolidated – This Is a Collective (or anything by them)

  26. Would you mind playing Vortex by Spahn Ranch?

  27. Ultra is one of my favs of theirs – I had a sneaking suspicion it was underrated :( Great opener!

  28. Shout out to Veronica, great dance partner. Can you please play “LA” by Boy Harsher?

  29. Another great one. Thanks to this show, I got “Under the Flag” on vinyl and it’s already become one of my favorites. Ordering “Gag” next!
