The Jesus and Mary Chain are no strangers to enlisting singing actresses for on-stage duets — Scarlett Johansson famously joined the band at Coachella to sing ‘Just Like Honey’ — and now they drafted ‘Mad Men’ star Jessica Paré to pitch in on ‘Sometimes Always’ and ‘Just Like Honey’ at two recent North American shows.

Pat Fish and Max Eider — co-founders of U.K. indie-pop group The Jazz Butcher, aka The Jazz Butcher Conspiracy — are planning to celebrate this year’s 30th anniversary of the group by making their first record since 2000’s ‘Rotten Soul,’ and the duo is funding the project through fans’ donations.

For our latest installment of Vintage Video, we turn, yet again, to the fabulous archive of the German TV show ‘Rockpalast,’ this time for a full, 100-minute concert by Big Country that was filmed March 15, 1986, during the band’s tour ahead of the release of its third album, ‘The Seer.’

Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen — who reformed the industrial-metal giant following a blood-draining 2010 health scare — collapsed on stage in Paris on Saturday night and was rushed to an area hospital, where he was ‘diagnosed to have had a full-system collapse due to extreme dehydration and heat exhaustion.’

The newly reunited Afghan Whigs this week are in the midst of playing their first-ever concerts in Australia, and, on Thursday night at a club date in Sydney, Greg Dulli and Co. paid tribute to a key early influence by bringing Steve Kilbey up on stage to help perform ‘One Day’ off The Church’s 1983 album ‘Seance.’

The Stone Roses are about two-thirds of the way through their summer tour of Europe and so far most fans only have witnessed the reunion through grainy, camera-shot fan footage. Until now: As The Stone Roses Fansite points out, the very first pro-shot footage of the Roses’ reunion finally has emerged.

This week’s installment of The AV Club’s Undercover 2012 series — in which bands that show up at the site’s Chicago offices pick a song off a pre-chosen list to cover — finds Bay Area punk act Ceremony taking a stab at the Violent Femmes’ “Kiss Off,” off that band’s classic self-titled debut.

For our latest installment of Vintage Video we turn back to 1987 with this 38-minute reel of rare behind-the-scenes footage of The Cure during the making of its classic video for ‘Just Like Heaven.’ As the indispensable Chain of Flowers points out, this French-produced footage was posted to Vimeo by director Tim Pope.

Pet Shop Boys have recorded a cover of the Bee Gees’ 1968 hit single ‘I Started A Joke’ in tribute to the late Robin Gibb — the band co-founder who died in May at age 62 — and will include it as a B-side to the duo’s upcoming single “Winner,” the first to be released off the forthcoming album ‘Elysium.’

Depeche Mode isn’t expected to return to the stage until 2013, but about 150 people got an unusually up-close-and-personal glimpse of frontman Dave Gahan in action Saturday night when he performed a special one-off show with Soulsavers, showcasing seven tracks off ‘The Light the Dead See.’

With Merge Records set to release U.S. editions of Sugar’s catalog reissues next week, the label is teasing the discs with this video of Bob Mould and his band — drummer Jon Wurster and bassist Jason Narducy — tearing through ‘Copper Blue’ standout “Hoover Dam” at San Francisco’s NoisePop festival back in February.
