Hellcat Records on Tuesday marked what would have been Joe Strummer’s 60th birthday by announcing and immediately releasing a digital box set compiling the late Clash frontman’s recorded output with late-’90s, early-2000s band The Mescaleros — including an unreleased 2002 live set.

Duran Duran next month will receive its first-ever double-disc best-of, the 34-track ‘The Biggest and the Best,’ which covers the years 1981 through 1989, collecting 20 of the band’s Top 40 hits as well as some “key album tracks” — while also omitting some pretty sizable hits from the band’s early ’90s renaissance.

Mute Records this fall continues its new compilation series An Introduction To… with a disc celebrating Slovenian avant-garde industrial group Laibach’s “unique take on the art of the cover version,” compiling 15 tracks, including newly recorded version of The Normal’s “Warm Leatherette” and Bob Dylan’s “Ballad of a Thin Man.”

Long-running electronic outfit Delerium — led by former Front Line Assembly member and Skinny Puppy collaborator Bill Leeb — this fall will release the 15-track ‘Music Box Opera,’ the group’s first new studio album in six years, which is preceded by the debut today of music video for lead-off single “Monarch.”

The Mission will document their ongoing 25th anniversary reunion this fall with a limited-edition 3-disc CD/DVD set called Silver that features two full concerts recorded last year and part of a third on either DVD or Blu-ray, plus a bonus CD featuring near-complete audio from one of the gigs as well.

Killing Joke unloaded a flurry of news this morning, announcing that “missing” frontman Jaz Coleman “appeared today from his retreat in the Western Sahara” as well as revealing plans for a 3CD ‘KJ in Dub’ remix project and the cancellation of a planned $300-a-ticket studio concert that was to have been filmed for a DVD.

Omnivore Recordings this fall will release the soundtrack to the cult 1987 documentary ‘Athens, GA – Inside/Out’ — which chronicled the music scene that spawned R.E.M., The B-52s and more — on CD for the first time, packaging it with a DVD of the film and five bonus tracks, two of which are ‘previously unheard performances.’

]The first three solo albums from Echo & The Bunnymen frontman Ian McCulloch are set to be reissued by Demon Music Group in expanded collectors’ editions — packed with bonus tracks including non-album singles, B-sides, live cuts and remixes — to coincide with the singer’s U.K. acoustic tour this September.

Demon Music Group late next month will reissue all six albums from the Roddy Frame-led Scottish indie-pop act Aztec Camera in 2CD and single-disc expanded editions, each featuring an assortment of bonus cuts including non-album singles, B-sides, remixes and, in the case of the band’s penultimate album, a full bonus live disc.

The Pet Shop Boys have unveiled the artwork and tracklist for their upcoming album ‘Elysium,’ which will be released this September worldwide by Parlophone/EMI in single-CD, double-CD and double-vinyl formats, as well as a “Mastered for iTunes” edition with track-by-track commentary from Chris Lowe and Neil Tennant.

The Sex Pistols this week revealed the full tracklist to this fall’s super-deluxe ‘Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols’ box set, a 3CD/1DVD collection that will mark the classic punk album’s 35th anniversary with demos, B-sides, live cuts and a remastered edition of the record using newly re-discovered original master tapes.

After suffering a heart attack last year and seeing the ‘implosion’ of the American Music Club reunion after two mid-to-late 2000s albums, former frontman Mark Eitzel this fall will release a brand-new solo album called Don’t Be a Stranger that his label, Merge Records, is pitching as his ‘finest solo album in over a decade.’

Pet Shop Boys have recorded a cover of the Bee Gees’ 1968 hit single ‘I Started A Joke’ in tribute to the late Robin Gibb — the band co-founder who died in May at age 62 — and will include it as a B-side to the duo’s upcoming single “Winner,” the first to be released off the forthcoming album ‘Elysium.’
