Legendary post-punk act Wire kicks off a new reissue series on Record Store Day in the U.K. with the release of Nine Sevens, a box set collecting nine 7-inches spanning 1977 to 1980 — seven singles, plus one that was never released, and a bonus EP that came with early pressings of 154. Fire Records next spring will follow up its collection of the first four albums by The Jazz Butcher, Pat Fish’s long-running U.K. indie-pop outfit, with a new box set called The Violent Years that compiles the next four LPs, all originally released on Creation Records between 1988 and 1991.
Tapete Records next year will release a box set compiling the complete recordings of the original six-year run of The Monochrome Set, a collection of 68 songs spread across six discs that collects the influential U.K. post-punk act’s first four albums and a host of singles. As eclipse fever swept across the U.S. this morning, reissue specialists Numero Group, seized the opportunity to offer the most explicit tease yet of their upcoming Hüsker Dü box set, sharing what appears to the cover art for the Savage Young Dü multi-disc release.
Demon Music Group next month will release a Nuggets-inspired 3CD box set compiled by longtime British radio host Gary Crowley that collects 77 tracks from 1977 to 1982, including “many rare, one-off singles which were very much in keeping with the DIY spirit of the times.”
